About me

My name is Matthew Clements and I’m currently looking for programming-based opportunities in the games industry.

I’m a graduate games programmer, having graduated from Kingston University with an Upper Second Class 2:1 degree in Games Technology in 2014 and I’m currently based in Staffordshire near the West Midlands.

I have a strong passion for coding and games development, and I’m always looking to learn and improve on my skills, my programming skill set is based mainly on C# and C++ which I consider my strongest languages, the main development tools I use include Unity, Unreal and Raylib. I also have some working knowledge of other languages such as C, Python and Java.

I’m currently working on a game called Project Colour, based in Unity/C# as well as some smaller game projects using C++ and the Raylib library, you can learn more about any other projects I have worked on in the Personal Projects section of this site.

I have 4 years of experience in the games industry working as a Tester, most recently at Flix Interactive as part of a small test team working on a vertical slice demo for a currently unannounced game.

Previous to this I worked at Rare on both Sea of Thieves and their latest IP Everwild as an embedded tester and before that I worked as a QA Technician as part of the Codemasters team where I worked on the F1 series of games, specifically F1 2020, F1 2021 and F1 22.

During my time in these roles, I have gained a huge amount of experience working in both online and offline environments, while working embedded within the wider development team towards continuous deadlines, testing across the three major game platforms of Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and using bug tracking related tools such as JIRA and Azure DevOps. For further information on my time working on these projects then please check out the Professional Work section

I’ve had a passion for video games ever since I first played Tetris at a very young age and ever since I’ve been hooked.

Over the years, playing games has allowed me to have all kinds of different experiences, but most importantly allowed me to have fun. These experiences are what led me to my passion in not only playing games, but also to developing games and being a part of that creative process.

The types of games I played also helped mould the ideas I have for what myself as a developer wants to produce for the player, and this is to make games that are not only of an excellent quality, but that are at the very core, fun to play.

Some of these games included:

ICO, Halo 2, Zelda BOTW, The Unfinished Swan, Fable 2, Hogs of War, PGR2, Kung Fu Chaos, Hyper Light Drifter, Super Mario 64, Tetris

Apart from creating games I also love to stay active, such as playing football, tennis or going to the gym, as well as travelling and taking part in social activities.
