Everwild

Everwild is a brand new IP in the works at Rare, where unique and unforgettable experiences await in a natural and magical world.

My Role

Due to the nature of the project, I can’t currently go into details about it, however I can talk a bit about my current role on it.

I joined the Everwild team during November 2023 after spending the past 15 months as part of the Sea of Thieves development team, my role was to evaluate the current state of the project and use my experience and learnings from working on Sea of Thieves to identify which testing processes should be taken into the Everwild development cycle, which areas can be improved on following the development of Sea of Thieves and at exactly which point in development we want to integrate the results of these.

While working on the project, some of my tasks included:

  • Regular use of Azure DevOps to submit, track and verify bugs.

  • Working daily with external test partners to ensure they have the correct information and tools to test as efficiently as possible.

  • Working daily with the development team to track progress and stability of current and upcoming features.

  • Researching Engine and Platform specific testing tools while writing clear and concise documentation for the wider test team to use.

  • Researching test practices and procedures, whether internal or external and evaluating the potential feasibility to be integrated into the project.

  • Creating a timeline plan for when processes should be integrated into the project based on the development roadmap.

  • Daily use of TeamCity to run builds, help investigate build failures and gather further information about change lists.

  • Attending daily stand up and review meetings, representing tests voice on the project.
